Muddy Buddies

I have not posted a recipe in a while, and then this afternoon on a whim the kids and i decided to make Muddy Buddies. So i took a few pictures and decided to share. I wish i could really share because i should not be eating all of it.
The kids both helped out...Avery likes to do the measuring, pouring and mixing and when it looks like fun Mitch wants to be involved...that is why he is the one with the bag of cereal and powdered sugar. While i was shaking it he just kept watching me and giggling. I figured the kid wanted a chance and i think he enjoyed it.
Here it is, in all it's chocolaty, peanut buttery, crunchy glory. You should try some.

MUDDY BUDDIES (aka Puppy Chow)

9 c Rice Chex
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. butter
1/2 t. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

1. measure cereal into a large bowl and set aside

2. put chocolate chip, PB and butter in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds until the mix is totally smooth. Stir in the vanilla. Pour mix over the cereal and stir gently until evenly coated. Put cereal in 2 gallon resealable food storage bag.

3. Add powdered sugar, seal bag. Shake until well coated.Spread on waxed paper until cooled. Store in airtight container in fridge. ENJOY!!!

  8. Muddy Buddies!!! When I was a kid I'd read the recipe on the box and wish I could make them, except we didn't have peanut butter in the house due to my mom's extreme allergies. Well, now I'm 27 and there's nothing stopping me! Thanks for reminding me, I can make a childhood dream come true!
