The Big Day!!

No pictures yet...but by this time tomorrow we will have a baby....well in under twelve hours we will have a baby. I am going in the morning for a planned c-section. I can not wait to share our new little person with everyone!!! We are split here in our house on whether it is going to be a boy or a girl. So keep us all in mind and say a little prayer if you think of it.

I am also being featured over at quiltstory tomorrow for the quilt i made my friend as she is going through breast cancer treatments. I hope if you have a minute and you have not already seen it you will take a minute and go check it out. Thanks Heather and Megan for featuring me, i am flattered again!

Proof

Yup we are still here....still plugging along...still schooling, crafting, sewing and baby growing. But i am having a serious lack of creativity and inspiration when it comes to blogging. I am slowing down a little.....but i am here and reading all of your lovely blogs, enjoying what everyone else is doing while i finish up my dead-lined projects.....breast cancer quilt, Christmas tree skirt and Christmas quilt! I promise i will show and share when i get them to a point worth showing!!!

A certain little man around here is not lacking in creativity...he was a old man last night(beard and mustache made from paper)...but if you look real close you can see that the tooth fairy has been here again. To the cheers and jeers of a crowd of teenage boys(college students my husband works with) Mitchell used a plastic spoon and pried his tooth out of his head! Crazy i know.

Sometimes life gives you other things you have to deal with before a blog and so that is what i am doing. Don't worry nothing is amiss we are all fine. I just have not sewn anything to share, cooked anything worth mentioning, and the kids and i have done nothing for fun or for school. We are just plugging on at the moment.

Mommy, what is this?

Avery comes downstairs with this "strange" thing in her hand, "Mommy what is this? It would not fit in either of the CD players!?". Mitchell takes one look at it and wants to know, "the CD... why is it so big?". Chris and i take one look at it and immediately groan and then start laughing....modern technology has sure changed since we were kids. They had no clue. Maybe i could say modern technology has sure changed our kids. Ugh, talk about feeling old.

Gettin' all Nerdy (A Blog-jacking)

So I've recently been learning how to write applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It's part of a cadet project that I'll be leading next academic year. In an effort to learn in other ways than on my own, I found the Apple World Wide Developer's Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. That's where I am now. I've been here all week, and have really been enjoying myself and learning a lot with just over 5000 other nerds. The one thing I've got to say is that Apple doesn't scrimp when it comes to putting on an event. Of course it wasn't cheap to be here, but Apple definitely made it worth it.

Since I'm here as an instructor at West Point, I get to use government rates for everything, so I had the privilege to stay in a very nice hotel. Below, you can see the view from my room.


On the last night of the conference (Thursday) they had a big bash at the Yuerba Buena Gardens, right across the street from the conference center. This being my first time at the conference, I wasn't sure what to expect from the bash. I had planned to get some free dinner, have a drink or two, and then go back to my hotel and catch a movie or something. But then they announced who the entertainment for the evening was. This being a big nerd conference, I was a little doubtful as to the quality of the entertainment.

Then Cake walked out on stage and started playing. Cake, really? I didn't know that I was going to get a free Cake concert out of the whole deal. (I'm sorry to those of you who don't know Cake, so you should check them out.) If you look to the left of the band in the picture above, you'll see a bunch of people hanging over a railing beside the stage. Well, that's where I found myself in short order to try to get some better pictures.

All in all, it's been quite an enjoyable week. It's definitely an interesting mix of people. In fact, I snapped the picture below while I was sitting here writing this blog. As much fun as it's been, I do miss home, and am looking forward to getting there. It's going to be a long night on an airplane, but I'll be home tomorrow, and then we have a nice week of vacation next week.

Real Life

...real life is what happens when you are not looking...when you are too busy enjoying the nice weather...when somehow your family used up all their clean clothes. Apparently i have been neglecting things because my poor girl had no clean unders in her drawer tonight...when it was time to get out of the bath she opted for a pair of mine, that were obviously too big, rather than go without!!! I admit, this is my life, i would rather we all enjoy being outside...or me doing sewing projects rather than housework. Now i must go finish playing catch up with the laundry

And now we are buried in a sea of boxes and paper...we are slowly but surely making our way out.
