Tiny Dancer

Mitchell loves to be loud, and Mitchell loves to dance. Somewhere he has learned to break dance. Don't ask, i don't know. So go ahead and click on the video and see why we love this silly little man so much. I might also mention that Mitchie gets many of his phrases backward so he is not having a dance party here he is having a "PARTY DANCE!!!!!".

Snacktime/ Kitchen Help!

I made this snack for the kids. They always seem to want something but i feel like i never have anything, or at least nothing fun. But, I came across this. It is basically GORP for kids. In there is a handful of Cheerio's, pretzels, nut of your choice(we used sunflower seed), Cheddar Bunnies(or goldfish), and about half a handful of M&M's, butterscotch chips, craisins and golden raisins. Mix it all together and there you have it!!! Tasty snack for hungry little people.
And this is my kitchen helper. More on what she is making those yummy treats for later. Doesn't she look so intent on her work?

what's for dinner?

This was last nights dinner. Chicken Curry in a Hurry. That is really the name. We don't get to have it often but it sure is good. The parents came up for the weekend last night so i made dinner. I love that it is easy and not the same old thing we seem to always eat. Ever feel like you are in a food rut? Here is the recipe if you are interested.

Chicken Curry in a Hurry
1 1/2 T Olive Oil
1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 t Curry powder
1/2 c plain Yogurt
3/4 c Heavy Cream
1/2 t Kosher Salt
1/4 t Black Pepper
1, 14.5 oz can diced Tomato, drained(optional)
1 Rotisserie Chicken
2 c cooked Rice(optional)

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and saute, stirring occasionally, for about 7 minutes. Sprinkle with the curry powder and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the yogurt and cream and simmer gently for 3 minutes. Stir in the salt and pepper and tomatoes. remove from heat. Slice the chicken and pre-make the rice. We like to eat it with the sauce and chicken over the rice, and for a little extra top it with golden raisins and almonds or pistachios.

If anyone makes it i would love to hear what you thought and know how it turned out for you!

Rewind

A lot has happened this week at ourhouse. Atleast it felt that way!
This is the bread i made. Cardamom Braid. I have not done it in awhile, but i think it turned out pretty well and as a testimony to that, it all was eaten ! Especially yummy with butter and jam for breakfast the next morning.
This was our house project this week. Before and After. My contribution to this was, well, NOTHING! Chris is our house hero!!!! He tore it up(the left) and put it back together(the right), all in just a few days. I know that it felt longer to him but it turned out great and he did a great job.
This here is Avery's first sewing lesson. She had been asking for a long time to have her own sewing machine. She saw a Hello Kitty machine at the store and loved it, and kept asking for it. We thought that she might not be old enough but in the end we broke down, weak parents, and did it anyway. She was so excited she was jumping up and down, her mouth was open and there was no sound coming out! We have done some practice runs and she is doing great. Practice makes perfect.

And here we Begin....

After reading the blogs of others for some time now, with much encouragement(you know who you are)I have decided to start one of my own now. I am no writer so there probably will not be anything witty or funny shared that does not come out of the mouth's of my children first. So please bear with me! This is going to be my way to keep up with our far away friends and family...my way to share what goes on in our lives. What does go on you might ask? Well I homeschool, we(Chris)are doing some painting and re-modeling. I try to sew and "craft".I am not that good at it but i try my hand at it often. I like to bake. I started homeschooling Avery this past fall. Like any homeschool mom will tell you, it has its ups and downs, but i don't regret our decision at all. We are learning as we go. Chris and i bought a house that needed a little re-work. So, between his grad school stuff and "life" we(read that, mostly Chris) have redone some of our house. Mostly the kitchen, several floors and lots of paint!!! As for that sew and craft claim, I am learning. I love the satisfaction of completing a sewing project, whatever it might be. I do lots of quilting and i am currently trying my hand at sewing purses/bags, and i have dreams of making lots of other things....like kids clothes and things for my house. Phew that was a mouthful!
So to all of you who choose to read this, we love you and miss having you
close. I hope you get some amusement out of what goes on at our house from day to day.
