Flea Market Find

I love going to flea markets!!! This past week was no exception. They are always so full of so much fun stuff that has so much potential.

This is my find!!! Isn't it amazing! I can not believe that i walked past it once without seeing it.

The price was amazing and it is in pretty great condition. A few marks and a stain but i think i can take care of those. Anyone have any tips or hints on cleaning old quilts?

What struck me the most about it was the simple colors. It is vintage but the colors are so modern. It is all hand pieced and hand quilted with such tiny tiny stitches. I love it!!!

Craigslist Rocks!!

Recently i was looking at craigslist with my mom and found this beautiful old sideboard!!! It was only 45. i almost fell off the couch and was instantly in love. Not only do i love old junk....but i love a deal and this goes in our house perfectly.
It has all sorts of beautiful old details that are just perfect. It is dinged, chipped and worn but those are the things i love about it!
I plan on using it in the dining room to hold my sewing stuff. Then i will be rid of the big ironing board and replace it with a table top board that i can put on it and use it when i need it or store it away. Next step is to hunt down a old table to replace the plastic folding table that i now sew on.
While we were there i asked her if she had any other old pieces that she was selling that she might want to show me. That is when i was shown this old dresser. I was excited. It is about time that Avery got a new piece of furniture to hold her clothes instead of her old baby dresser. I plan on refinishing this to make it look like this sideboard at A familiar path blog. I have been dying to do a piece of furniture in turquoise!

My Treasures

Here you go sister...you asked! I have been meaning to share these since i got back from Virginia. These were my two old junk treasures.
This old cupboard door was in the yard of the pink polka dot antique barn. I loved the detail and the color. It is hard to see it in this picture but it is a really pretty robins egg, bluey gray color. How was that for a description!
I am planning on hanging these two weathered, worn, green and old picket's together on my wall. I have a big double slider to the backyard that needs some sprucing up. I am going to include that old rusted lock face in the hanging somehow. I knew i had to have them as soon as i saw them. I think now i am wishing i had more. She called them picket's(who i bought them from) but they look more to me like they were part of a porch railing. I love them!

Home Decor Happiness

I have a few new treasures that i wanted to share with you!
When i was a little girl my mom had a set of a giant fork and spoon. I have been wanting hers for a long time but she has long since been rid of them. I love etsy because I found these perfect old red ones that were just right for my house. They are bigger than you think...about 2 feet long each!
Then the other day i found this great vintage looking tin sign at Homegoods. Love that store. It fit perfect on the end of my boring, ugly kitchen cabinets.
Now, one of my favorite etsy purchases is this vintage ruler coat hanger. I bought it from Susie at Bienvenue shop. She has so many wonderful ideas and when she made this one i knew i wanted one, but it would take me too long to make it myself...so i went ahead and ordered it from her etsy store. It is more fabulous in person!
And last but not least i found these these vintage flat close pins. I have plans for them. I want to frame them and hang them in my laundry room...to make the room more appealing and then perhaps the laundry will not seem so tedious or never ending!!!

**on a side note, i will be going out of town to visit with my sister this week. I hope to have more adventures to share and pictures to post when we get back. See you here when i get back!**

Family Vintage

Look what my Gram gave me. While we were visiting this weekend she came down the hall with a little something folded up in her hand. My mom got excited, i think she thought it was for her, and then realized that it was probably for me. Were you a little bummed mom? I jumped and squealed when i saw a hint of vintage something in her hand, because i did not know what it was yet. I grabbed her and hugged her. I think she might have laughed at me. If i had found this apron in a vintage shop somewhere i would have fallen in love but to get it from the hands of my Gram made it even better. My aunt was there and said she remembered it....so it must have been something she used during the holidays. I probably should have found out the whole story but i was way too excited. Cover your ears if you love christmas...but it is not my favorite holiday. My family has names for me. But this...this could make it way more fun!!! Thanks Gram!!!!
