This is the Confessions of a bad crafty mom. See how sweet he is, all snuggled up under his lovely little baby blanket, well here is my confession. Let me tell you how this all went down.
I had a burst of motivation this week so i decided to clean out my overflowing and ridiculously messy fabric closet. While i am cleaning i come across a bag with this unfinished crochet baby blanket. Uh oh! So i brought it down and got to work on it. While i was busy at work, Avery asked what it was..."a baby blanket". I did not want to say it was Mitchell's because he was sitting right next to me. "Do i have one?" she wanted to know. Of course you do, upstairs. "Is this one for the baby"..and it was then that the truth came out..."No, Avery this is Mitchell's". Shocked, i know. So was she!

So 6 years later the kid got his baby blanket. He loves it. Bonus is that he can tell me that he loves it and he so obviously appreciates it. It went to bed with him last night. Shame on me. This only tells me that i have to work hard and get all the things for this baby done before he or she turns 6!!! motivation, i need lots and lots of motivation.

That's funny! I really do hope you get your baby's quilt or blanket finished before he/she turns 6! :-)
It is a really cute blanket though.
With two children, it's a wonder you still get things done. My hats off to you... don't worry, as long as you get it done at some point, you will still be the BEST-EST Mom in the eyes of your children.
You wouldn't happen to want to join my Ladybug Quilt-along, would you? :)
Don't be so hard on yourself! :) Look at ALL the MANY WONDERFUL things you have done for that blessed boy of yours...he KNOWs he's loved! :)
i LOVE your new crafty button :) hahaha
A finish is a finish. Just in time for fall.
You are the best kind of momma!
The blanket is beautiful!
So are the children of the beatiful momma!
He appreciates it more now. :) It's quite lovely. :)
Hey... at least you finished it! Congrats! Now there is one less unfinished project in your closet.
I know it seems awful to you, but it's not !
Nowadays we always try to give our kids things BEFORE they have any need of them. At the time of his birth, I bet you had more blankets than you knew what to do with, and like you said, they kept him warm when he couldn't know who they were from.
But now, he sees that his mama cared enough to hang onto that blankie til it was finished and he could love it.
I have yet to make my baby a quilt, and she's 8 months. I have so many unfinished projects, it's nuts!
I turned out beautiful and he clearly loves his blanket. I hope I can make you feel a bit better by telling you it took me 21 years to finish my son's baby sampler and get it framed. He's 22!!!
Blessings,
jilly
Don't tell, but somewhere in some box is a quilt top with ABC's that I hand appliqued for my unborn baby...she is now 31. Maybe we'll have a grandchild someday...You are doing fine, REALLY.
Grins, pokey
It's a lovely baby blanet and very cute boy.
OH, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! Just this week, my 4 1/2 year old asked when I was going to make her a quilt. Sadly, I have all the squares done, sitting in a box. I sewed them when I was pregnant!!! I really need to get on it. :)
Great story :) Also a very pretty blanket, and I'm glad your son liked it! the quilts I've given to my nephews were usually torn out of the bag and then the bag was inspected for anything worthwhile I might have given to them... their parents assure me the quilts are being used ;) oh well. It probably helps to live with the recipient and see the usage with your own eyes, haha!
Happy preparing-for-the-baby! Love the shirt in the last post of your belly :)
Cheers,
Christine
that's a Fabulous story!!! Anda bautifful blanket ... lucky kids!
hahaha!!! That is an awesome confession!! And it honestly makes me feel good knowing I am not the only one! And you are right, one bonus was that he was able to tell you he loves it! :-) Hmm... I wonder what projects I should dust off....
I have an unfinished project too!! I'm right there between Jilly and Pokey in years.
Found you at Sew Much Ado.
I feel for you! I am in the same boat! Fiishing my 2 yr olds baby blanket while starting one for my 4 month old! LOL...bad crafty mommies we are!
Would love for you to check out my blog!
