The kids were bored...it was raining. Out came the buttons for a lengthy time spent sorting and separating...and using chopsticks to pick them up and move them into a egg carton. How is that for some rainy day fun, and the rainbow effect of it is so appealing to the eye!!!

I have many fond memories of sitting on the floor of my mom's sewing room sorting buttons! When she cleaned out her house to move, she gave me the tin that she had always kept her buttons in & now I store my buttons there. Every time I reach for it I am flooded with happy memories!
It's an awfully pretty picture and sounds like a great way to keep them occupied.
Great fun with the chopsticks in the mix!
Great idea Leslie. MyMother use to get her button jar out to play with when we were sick and bored. Now it's not so full as I have helped myself to it :)
What an awesome form of torture...eeeerrrr...creative play! lol
what a smart mama you are! that's a great activity :)
Aww, your kids are so lucky you are so creative. And Colleen has a picture with Avery on her blog with a gorgeous quilt behind her...is that yours? Can I copy it? Can you tell me how? :)
Life looks delightful in your corner of the world!
Kids love to play with buttons! Not sure why.
My kids love buttons too but ended up having to hide them for a while after they started appearing in the little ones poop, eek!
