Robots, Gears and Bugs

Doesn't that sound just like little boys?!

This is my 600th post...they seem to be flying by. SO for this post i wanted to share something i have been working on. None of it is finished, just works in progress.

This is the boy version of my nursery plan. Since we did not find out the gender of the baby it is my plan to make a girl version and a boy version. I had big ideas to make the whole thing like, what is now going to be used as or referred to as the dresser topper below....little squares inside big squares. But, my patience wore out as it usually does and i decided to just go ahead and feature the fabric by using big 8 inch blocks of fabric.

I used Cogsmo fabric by Cosmo Cricket. I really love it and it appeals to my husband nerd sense with all the gears, and circuit boards. I just got some more of it in the mail so that i could finish it all up. So what started as a quilt idea for the baby has turned into a quilt, a dresser topper and a wall hanging. I hope i love it all as much when i am done.

And this is the featured bug part of my post title....my son has had a knack lately for finding stick bugs. I had no idea we had them here in NY, as i have only seen them in the insect part of the zoo. But here is one of them...there are two named Camo and Flage. Mitch named them. They kind of creep me out when they are not in their container home. They are living together now, hopefully they don't duel it out to the death or loss of limbs!

***I am going to add this to sew and tell at Amylouwho's this week since it is the greatest amount of sewing i have gotten done in a long time. GO and check everyone else out. There is, as always, some really great stuff to look at.***

So cute! What do you have planned for your girl set? You seriously have more energy than me, all I did when we weren't finding out baby's gender was make gender neutral stuff until it arrived!! :)
The bugs gross me out. Well, I guess they'r enot bad- as long as they're in their jar. But crawling out and about? No thanks.

we had stick bugs a few years back and I too was surprised how well they did here in california. They did SO well we had an ARMY of stick bugs before we knew it!!!

Where did you buy all of the fabrics? I've been trying to find that collection, but have only been able to find a few of the fabrics. The green logic board I cannot find anywhere. It's great to see how you paired and pieced them together. What a fun set!

Well, Leslie, just incase you tire out again, I'm gonna GIVE you an out.......I think those fabrics would be great for boy OR girl.
Girls love gadgets too, and that set is just so modern and timely.

And that rapt look of total enchantment on his face is priceless !

cool bug... my kids would like that, too.

I watched an 8 year old girl on my street catch a huge cicada today... it was awesome, the other little girls were screaming.

Your quilt looks gorgeous! The whole set's going to look so good together.

The nursery is going to look lovely and coordinated with these quilted items. Looking forward to seeing the girls version. You are not the only one that is creeped out by stick insects. Not sure what it is about them!?

That is adorable fabric! Any way you sew it, it's going to be great.

I never knew we had so many different snakes and reptiles here until my nephew came along. He can find them anywhere. I was happy not knowing they existed, LOL.

I want to try one of these quilts next, they look like fun! Your prints are great, too. Now, the bugs, yuck! But I do try to act brave when I am teaching about them in second grade (don't tell them I said yuck, okay?)
