Recently Acquired

oh yes, i know...you are so shocked to see that i got some new fabric!!! Sometimes my power of resistance is very low. I found this fat quarter bundle of Ginger Blossom at the fat quarter shop...it is so pretty, fun and bright. Love it. glad i got it when i did because i don't see it there anymore.
I have been thinking about new kitchen towels...and right now i am loving old antique and vintage...so when i got a e-mail about vintage look toweling, on sale, i went for it. All i have to do is cut each yard in half, hem the ends and i have 6 brand new kitchen towels....hooray!! Plus as a bonus i got myself a little extra wee play yardage, because i love it!!! all from the same shop, the Calico Cottage Quilter.
This week i also got a surprise in the mail...i won a giveaway during Park City Girl's quilt festival. Ruth Anne dyes her own fabric and was giving away these two pieces. They are both very pretty and done with different techniques.
And then there is this....an acquired family heirloom of sorts. Every family has them but sometimes they are different than what you might think. Meet the much sought after chipmunk S&P shakers. My mom has had them forever and we love them...i tried stealing them recently but my very honest 5 year old ratted me out. But my mom let me borrow/have?? them this year because thanksgiving was going to be here. What if they are happier here mom? :o(

Fun post ! Gorgeous fabrics, a giveaway winner, and a little family history for Thanksgiving !

I think the chipmunks should be a floating heirloom given to whomever is hosting Thanksgiving that year.

I love the dishtowels!

I'm sure your generous mom will let you have them...

Love the Sandi Henderson fabrics. I have some of the same, but unlike you, I never do anything with my fabric. Can't wait to see what you do.

So Colleen, it sounds like the "floating heirloom" will stay at our house forever since you haven't hosted Thanksgiving since what, ThanksChristmas 2000???

I'm glad you like the fabric. If you use it in a project, please post a picture and let me know. Thanks, too, for linking back to my blog.

We're going to try that pumpkin cake, and loved the proposal video.

The fabric is so pretty! I'm glad you were able to find what you were looking for...sort of picks the day up a bit, eh?

We have heirlooms like that too! LOL Mine are hand painted pilgrims my MIL made with her MIL...

Happy, happy weekend!

I really love Mr & Mrs Chipmunk... your blog is making me wish for a really great flea market to visit today- only, this valley isn't known for its flea markets. The Salvation Army bought the old Wasilla Bar building so I rummage through Valley junk on an old seedy dance floor. I only ever find gross couches and broken office chairs... guess I need to come with the s&p shakers to visit you :)

look at you with all your new fabrics! Now I don't feel so badly about my recent purchases. Got my very first (4) jelly rolls in the mail yesterday... but I didn't take a picture because I was too excited to open them up. One was actually not what I ordered so I got that sorted out. 2 are Milk (b/c I didn't want to do all that cutting!) and one is Oh Cherry Oh, and it's laid out all over my bed as we speak. Love the chipmunks :)

The chipmunks are so cute! I love the Ginger blossom fabrics too... I might have to see if I can find some myself if they are getting scarce!
