"We have new birds, they are bluebirds. I think they are going to live in my bird house. I was very happy!! I am not sure if they are going to lay eggs. We have seen the male a lot. We just started getting the female bluebird."-Avery
Just a few days ago Avery and I were downstairs, maybe doing school, and we heard a strange bird call. One we had not heard before. That always distracts us from whatever we are doing. So i grabbed the binoculars, that are always close at hand, and we checked out the backyard. To our surprise we saw a bluebird. He was checking out Avery's birdhouse. She built this last year with Chris as a project for her science class. There was lots of jumping up and down and quiet screaming (so we did not scare the birds of course) when she spotted it. We watched carefully and they came back the next day as well. We have hope that they will make a home and have a little family in our yard. I have lived in NY almost my whole life and i had never seen a bluebird, our state bird, until this year. The bird nerds here are so excited!!

Avery, you must have done an excellent job of making that bird house. It looks like those bluebirds will be very happy there!
I dont think youre nerdy. It wasnt until I moved down here that I saw a bluebird either. I remember thinking how beautifully blue they are!
Oh. My. Gosh!! How exciting!!! I hope to see them with you this weekend.

wow!!!! you KNOW i love bluebirds!! that would make me more than a little excited too! take lots of pictures please!! we made a bird house like this (i think one of the boys made it in boy scouts) and it has been on the back of our house unused for years. we have two cats though so maybe they scare the birds away? we also have lots of squirrels in our avocado tree. you are so lucky!! yeah avery!!!
Avery, great job on the birdhouse. I sit on my deck and watch all the birds in my yard. Congratulations on your first bird family. We have blue birds also. Have a great time watching them.
