Wee Play Complete

i had a grand idea for another picture to show this quilt off...me and the hubby with the blanket over our laps and just our feet sticking out the bottom, all cozy cozied up together...but considering he had some wisdom teeth pulled today, that was not going to happen. Today was the day we met, 10 years ago. How is that for celebrating? I just love him...but i digress!!!
Kim, you asked for a close up of the quilting. I hope this is close enough. I just followed the lines of the quilt on each side of the seam. I love the colors of these fabrics...there is something about how soft the blues are. I love all the colors but i really love the blues. i just love them. I did the binding in one of the ruler prints from the line...i think it turned out really nicely. Like a stripe with a little somethin extra.
The wind finally died down enough to take the quilt outside to get some good light for pictures. I am not kidding...it was like a hurricane up here!! I finished the quilting last week in time for sew and tell..then i took a few nights to sit and leisurely hand sew the binding. i love this part...it is somehow soothing, and it is so great to be at that final step so close to the end, but then i find myself sort of torn and almost disappointed that it is over. What a conflict...i spend all the piecing and assembling hoping for a finish and then when i am there i am a little sad. Ugh!! Anyone know what i mean?

On a side note...my husband just asked me tonight if i would make a quilt to be auctioned at his work. How crazy is that? i have not answered yet, but i am pretty sure the answer will be yes, but then i panic a little because i have never done anything with a deadline before. What if it does not raise much money? How much of a bummer would that be?

***i just wanted to take a minute to note that this quilt was inspired by another that i saw here on flickr. Camille made the one that inspired me with 2 charm packs...mine has 3. I originally blogged about this way back in July when i finished the top.***

if you make a quilt like this for the auction it will raise PLENTY of money. This is such an awesome quilt.

Yes, your quilt will sell !

I do know exactly what you mean. I used to have a different reaction sometimes, though. I'd spend so much time on a quilt that, when I'd finished it, I no longer even wanted to look at it.....I didn't even like it at that point. I'd just set it aside and come back to it a month or two later, tickled to death to have a new one, and remembering with each section I looked at, exactly what I was thinking of or what movie I was watching when I quilted there, or what song I heard. These quilts are so full of memories, that even though you didn't get the shot of you and ten-year hubby "under the covers", you'll still think of it each time you look at the quilt........and giggle !
Congrats on a great quilt AND on the anniversary !

You make me laugh! I'd buy your quilt! (And that's saying a lot since I'm your sister and think that you should just give them to me for free.) ;p
I like the ruler fabric as binding. Very cute.

Leslie, the quilt is a dream! So happy and bright and beautiful. I know what you mean about finishing a project...but I try to have two or three, or four or five LOL in the works besides so I have something to be excited about. And like Dotty, I can get so sick of a quilt that I would take it off the machine, box it up and ship it to Bora Bora just so I woudln't have to see it again! LOL
A quilt for an auction would be awesome! You could even ask your quilting buds...ahem...to help with the blocks so that way you might not be as overwhelmed??

Have a great day today!

I love this quilt! So cheerful!
It would be wonderful to do a quilt for an auction - I hope it sells for lots and it'll be such a good push to get one done (it would be for me anyways :) )

Great quilt! I know what you mean about being a bit sad - like getting to the end of a good book, and finishing something you've worked a long time at. Really, the fun is in the process! So the moves me to just get going on something new!

I love that! You are so good at arranging your colors/fabrics. I always have to get Craig to use his feng shui skills on my layouts. Can't wait til Zoe's old enough to help (not to be confused with crawling thru the pieces I have laid out on the floor). It took me a week to arrange my 20 piece doll quilt. Can't wait to see what you make for the auction :)

I love this quilt - the big squares and the bold colors. As for the auction quilt - go for it! It'll definately make money and such a good feeling you'll get.

I love this! I have a bunch of charm packs of this sitting around waiting for me to do something with them. Maybe I just need a simple charm patch quilt, like this!

Very well done--love the way you integrated the colors and patterns. Fun to see your sewing machine fine of recent--She needs a good old name like Agnes, or Mertyl. . . Usula, Hazel. . . something like that. Good luck and thanks for commenting on my beginner quilt.

I love love love this quilt. I have Fresh charm packs in these colours. I had wanted to a layout like this but did not know how to blend the colours. I love how you did yours.

I love this quilt so much. I have 3 wee play charm packs and I can't decide how to use them. I think this is the best use of them because it lets the fabric do the talking! How many charm packs did you use (if that's what you used!)?
