Fast Finish and Giveaway

By Sunday afternoon i had pinned the whole top of my Matroyshka Quilt....then i started asking myself. why so many other unfinished projects? The only thing i can come up with is that i was not terribly invested in this one. Mostly a stash buster with nobody for it to really go to...just made it because i liked it!
Avery got to be my holder this afternoon since she was the only one around. The wind was giving us a little trouble but it was the only minute of sunshine we have had in days. Almost did not know what it was!
When i went on the hunt through the stash to find something to back this with i was really at a loss....then i remembered this tablecloth i bought. I just loved the colors... but it did not match anything in my house. Turned out it was the right size and the right colors.
So i got to quilting...just a simple straight line outline of the blocks.

Now for the fun part....to make this quilt i only used one of my 5 fat quarters of this Heather Ross Matroyshka fabric. Simple math says i still have a few left...so i would like to share with all of you nice ladies and giveaway 2 of the fat quarters to one lucky winner. So all you have to do is leave me a comment, just say hey or whatever you feel like. I will plan to choose a winner over the weekend. Sound good? Please make sure to leave me your e-mail or some way to contact you.

Oh how nice of you!!! After your earlier post I dashed right out to Joann, but had no luck. I did find some other cute designer FQs, but no Heather Ross! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, sister! You are speedy fast. That is such a sweet little quilt! Oh, and I don't expect you to count me in on the giveaway. That wouldn't be right, now would it.

It turned out beautifully, and the coloring of the table cloth is just perfect. Isn't it fun when things simply fall together so nicely. Thank you for the chance to win some of those adorable matroyshkas.

I really like the photo closeup of the quilt, where you just see the contours of the quilting !
Just lovely ! Congratulations on a great finish.....that backing is just made for it.

I wish I could just choose a background ! I've cut blocks all day and can't sew them together until the decision is made !
It's so much easier when you just make something for fun without a plan.....it all just comes together so much more easily !

It turned out great! I had a fat quarter stack of this line and used them all up in a quilt for the Hope for Haiti etsy shop. I'd love to have a bit more to make something for one of my girls!

*squeals with delight* ooh Leslie - so generous to share. I have only one little square of a Heather Ross print I was sent in a scrap swap on Flickr... I absolutely adore those little Russian dolls and your quilt is gorgeous. I think I'd make a couple of crayon rolls out of one FQ or perhaps a gorgeous wee baby quilt to donate to our childrens ward... Have a wonderful day and thank you!

I stopped at Joann's to see if they had any and there was none! :-( Maybe I'll win some from you, that would be awesome!

Your matroushka quilt has turned out fabulous and love the straight line quilting. Just what it needed. Love the backing too. Isn't great when you find something you already had and are able to make use of it. Have just finished helping my 12 year old make a quilt entirely from my scraps inluding batting. Adore that matroushka fabric.

I love the tablecloth backing on there. It really fits with the top. Even with just straight line quilting, it looks like it would have taken forever. Beautiful and well done!

Kimberly Tripp said...

beautiful as always! I love how you quilted it. I'd like to do something other than stipple my next one. I thought of you this weekend b/c I was at Jon's house... just a short last minute visit, otherwise I would have visited you too :) spent most of the time on Long Island since my Grandpa is in the hospital, hence my long absence. I do actually have a finish for today, though. Hope I get time to post it.

Hey there, hope you're doing well. What a beautiful quilt. I really really really need a craft to do. Just realized there is a wool shop here in our village, so since it is snowing like crazy, I may have to head over there tomorrow. Even just to get out of the house. Throw Eric on my back and skid-addle. I promised Megan that she and I would learn to knit together.
Have a great weekend!
