Thrifty Fashion!!! Sew and Tell

about 2 weeks ago there was a big neighborhood yard sale. We are a pretty young neighborhood, but luckily some of the moms of the ladies who live here came and came with goodies!!! I found all of these vintage sheets and pillowcases all at one house. Pretty right?

Then this week i was blogging around, whilst hanging out with my couch, and i found this idea for a nightgown with a tutorial. I modified the tutorials a little and came up with this for Avery.

The bottom of the pillowcase with this scalloped detail is my favorite part. Those little raspberries on the fabric are so cute!

Sewing clothing is not my strong suit. With quilting i know all the steps to follow and what order to do them in...with clothes i get a little turned around , get stuck and then ask myself how am i supposed to do this? Since this is for sleeping i think it will do. The true test will be if she wears it for more than one night!!

**since this is the only significant sewing i have done in a really long while i am going to go ahead and link this up to this weeks edition of sew and tell at Amylouwho's. Say hello to all the ladies who made something wonderful this week**

You did a GREAT job. I predict she'll wear it proudly for many nights to come! You really hit the jackpot at that sale, huh?

Very clever, Leslie !
And the pillowcase winds up going right back to bed where it belongs !

Love that nightgown! That pillowcase is just perfect for it - that hem is delicious. :-) I hope Avery likes it as much as we do!

the nightgown is lovely and the sheet find is amazing but I'm totally laughing at the rubber animals Avery's wearing! Those are animal rubber bands, right? They are an insane craze here right now and i would never have imagined they would be trendy anywhere else. How did Avery start collecting them? And I assume she trades them, too.

Love it! I hope she'll wear it.
Love the silly bands too. Julia just told me that she wanted some, since Avery had them.

This is so cute! I'm laughing b/c we just had a neighborhood garage sale a couple weeks ago, and I went on a hunt for vintage linens. One neighbor used old (and pretty) vintage linens as table cloths and hung up to hide all their stuff not for sale. I didn't have the heart to ask if I could buy them since they were clearly not on sale! I'm glad you were able to find some good ones though!

That is absolutely delightful. If Avery won't wear it more than one night ship it on west and I'd definitely wear it!!! :)

Did she wear it tonight? Turned out nice. Now I have to figure out something to do with my jewelry from the yard sale.

Leslie, this is one pretty nightgown! No way I would have guessed it is made out of a pillowcase. Putting that scalloped portion on the bottom is perfect! Hope she wore it more than one night ;-)

This is so cute!! Why didn't I think of nite-nite clothes!

You have got to try oliver and co's popover dress. I sewed clothes for the first time and I was happy with what I ended up with.

Schedule some time around stuff to close the door and just sew. Even if it is only an half hour. Hang in there.

You are not the only that gets stuck in garment construction. To me, garment construction always drives me nuts, and has always been an uphill battle for me.

That little dress is darling. You ought to be so proud of yourself.
