Late Bloomers

We are a little behind on the growing season here, but i had this kit for the kids to do. Yesterday was gloomy and rainy all day so it was a perfect time to do a project.
They were so into it...if it is about dirt they are sure to have a blast.
It had those cool little dirt pellets that expanded when you put them in water. Watching them grow was really cool, especially to a 4 year old.
They both wrote out little signs for their pots that we taped to toothpicks. So sometime, hopefully, we will have some zinnia's, sunflower and some basil. And even if they only grow a little bit we all will still be thrilled

***Update: the zinnia's are already sprouting just a two days later.

We had this same kit! Only, Ash did it with Charlotte and he didn't include the cute stakes saying what was in each pot... so we never knew. And then trying to tranplant them to bigger pots actually killed them... all. My tip is to be super careful in trying to remove the clump of dirt from the cute yellow pot... I tore our roots all to shreds because the dirt wouldn't budge.
