***this has been one crazy busy week...fun but busy. We have had lots of friends and family here visiting for thanksgiving. It has been a wonderful time. Yet, somehow in the middle of everything i managed to get something made. Can you believe it!! SO, i don't have a new post for today but i wanted to link back to another post i had from this week to share with everyone what i made. So, here is my addition to Sew and tell this week!! Go on over to check out lots of great finishes and some really yummy recipes.***
I feel like i finally have gotten a little quilting motivation back. It seems to come and go around here. I wanted to make something for one of our little neighbors and since i know that her mom does not read the blog i am safe to share.
I had a small stash of Heather Bailey's Mendocino line. I was never sure of what i wanted to do with it. I really love it...the little mermaids are so sweet. I wanted to feature the patterns as best i could so i cut them to varying sizes and pieced it as a simple strips quilt. When i was done piecing and trimming i made a little improv block baby doll quilt to match with the scraps.
There has also been some crafting of a different kind going on. My sister came for Thanksgiving and brought all of her wool felting supplies. Her 9 year old wanted to teach us to make gnomes. I was on board as soon as they said gnome. I love them, they are adorable. We all got busy making them...my Mom, sister, little and big kids, me and even my sweet husband. I love family craft nights!!! The mushroom was made by my sis...and the old man with the fuzzy whiskers was made by the hubs. The rest i did. Cute right?

Family craft night was fun, sister. Hang on for family cooking day!
Those little gnomes are beyond cute. Your sister needs to do a guest tutorial for us!
And your quilt is very pretty. You did a great job organizing those stripes - I always find that hard to get each joining thing to look good, then the whole thing to come out looking nice. Cute bonus mini, too!
Right, So Cute! I want one. And family craft night is such a good idea.
I love your little gnomes and mushroom! So cute and it must have been so fun! The quilt is looking good too :)
so cute! and your hubby did a great job!
Family craft night at our house usually involves some sort of explosive material and lots of picking up afterwards! LOL
Truly love the quilt and arent' you a sweetie for making it as a gift.
The gnomes ARE adorable!
Happy Thanksgiving!
What a lucky neighbor! The little quilt is beautiful!
The wool felting is SO cute, too!
So pretty! I love Heather Ross. Thank you for your kind comment on my blog.
Glad I didn't see mine in your picture. We would have scared people! Of course, you know I'll put them on my blog. I have to find something to blog about.
ha! adorable. now i want my own felted gnome. super cute and that is such a sweet story, everyone crafting together. lovely little quiltie for the neighbor
The quilt is beautiful. Love those fabrics!
What a great family activity. One family activity I remember most was shelling HUGE buckets of peas with my Nan, Mum and sister. My Pop was a market gardner so there was a LOT OF THEM.
Great fabrics and such a pretty little quilt! Love the felted characters, too. I've got to learn how to do that:)
love those colors on your mermaid quilt! And love how you didn't decapitate any mermaids to make it :) I'm trying to figure out how to do Joshua's goodnight monkey quilt without killing too many monkeys in the process :) I think it's hilarious that (a) one can make gnomes by felting... where's the tutorial :) and (b) that Chris got in on the action. I'd love to see Craig felt a gnome!
Very cute! Sounds like all had a lot of fun!
LOVE the quilt and mini quilt. That fabric is so gorgeous.
And I'm cracking up that your husband made a gnome... I'm not sure I could drag my husband into that without some serious whining (on both parts!).
Nice little quilt...I love the colors.
Ok, I'm commenting here because I don't want to get my name on your giveaway post even though I am a follower:0{ What makes you think we wouldn't do something with the fabric? Yeah, yeah stop laughing. You're right. What could I do with it? Have fun...I see a lot of ladies have visited and entered.
Those gnomes are about the cutest thing ever. And that wee little mushroom too! And the quilt too! Very nice. :)
I love your quilt! Mendocino is just the best!
I picked Mendocino line for my summer quilt along projct. The gold and fuchsia works well together. I have just order another 1/2 yard of the gold ( same as yours). I hope I will be able to finish it by the end of 2009. I like how you put them in together.
Way cute on both fof the projects. You are just so crafty.
I like what you did with this fabric--it's such a cute line. What a great way to show it off, and the little quilt is sweeter than sweet!
