for my freezing friends in the far north...you know who you are...doesn't it look like we are in some arctic place too? but no,that is wishful thinking, this is just NY. There was so much ice on the river today. Much more than i ever remembered. Chris walked off to the edge. It was cool, if you stood still and just listened you could hear the ice moving and creaking...talking.

That's amazing and beautiful! How incredibly cool.
looks like I got out of there just in time!! I definitely don't remember it being that cold when I was there... maybe that part of my brain got frostbite :)
Leslie, Eagle River registered at 26 below 0 a few mornings ago! And Clint walks to the bus and from the bus to work! What a guy! Just so I can have the car! Fairbanks hit 55 below this weekend. Why did we move back here?! :) Your photos are beautiful!
I've never thought of the Hudson as being quite so Arctic. It looks pretty cold. You should have discouraged Chris from jumping into the water in that bottom photo.
Hey, is that the same place where we almost got thrown into the river by jeff B? As opposed to the time I actually got dumped into the river by what's his name when he got off the jet ski...That was DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!
i forgot that we had ever been there with JB....i was just thinking about when you fell in the river yesterday, oddly!?! huh? that is the big flat rock where we would picnic
Oh, my! And I just crank up our fire and make hot cocoa. This year I promised to take the older kids tubing--oh NO! I am so a southern gal at heart. 40 is cold enough for me.
