I have a confession to make, nostalgia broke me down. I am weak! I seem to be reliving the past through food lately. And today i lost my battle with the corn syrup. I made my mom's PB Playdough recipe.
Apparently every food has nostalgia, even the cursed corn syrup. I have almost completely eradicated it from our house. But today i was strong no longer. I pulled the unused bottle from the back of my pantry, dusted it of and added it in.The kids are always asking to play with playdough and i always so no...does that make me a bad mom? I just hate cleaning it up and picking the pieces out of the carpet and off the bottom of the kids socks. Isn't being able to eat your playdough a 100 times better? SO i made it.
For today, for this one recipe from my childhood, nostalgia(aka, corn syrup) won.
MOM'S PB PLAYDOH
1 c. Peanut Butter
1 c. Corn Syrup
1 1/4 c. Powdered Milk
1 1/4 c. Confectioner's Sugar
Mix all well to form stiff dough. Let kids play and snack as they go. Enough for small group of children

I can almost smell it. I'll just relive it through your blog though, I don't think I'll make it.
awww. go ahead Colleen. The kids will love it! Leslie, dumb question...did the kids like it?
Oh, yum! I mean, cool! Sometimes it's alright to give in to nostalgia. Last night, I bought (gasp) fried chicken and chicken nuggets. I'm getting sick and don't feel like cooking. A few days of it won't kill them. Lol.
Can you post your recipe Les? Thanks!
Good for you. Things in moderation arent always bad. :o)
Ok as I type this the snowflakes on the screen behind the screen I am typing on makes me feel like I am seeing stars!
here you go Teri! let me know what you think if you try it
Um, that looks yummy enough for grownups.
I hear you on that corn syrup stuff, but every once and awhile can't be all toxic. and looks like such fun! Better than the salt playdough we had that did NOT taste good.

we had so many bottles of corn syrup in the house growing up as well, sorta lovely in the bottle dont you think? who knew it was so horrid for you!
