Laundry Update

So recently my friend Kim asked for a update on the homemade laundry detergent. Since i was needing to make a new batch i figured now was the time to fill you in on what i thought. The first thing i would say is that it is so fast and easy to make, especially when you have little helpers. I watched the clock and from start to finish, grating the soap to putting the lid on the finished bucket, it only took 30 minutes to make. Fast right?
We discovered after the very first load that our clothes were not only clean but they were softer, and i don't use any fabric softener ever....it was just the wonderful result of the detergent. So far i have no complaints...it really does clean and it lasts a long time and it is inexpensive besides. There is little to no scent, which i don't mind. My mother has been converted and says the same, things get clean and are softer. And my sister was also planning on making some of her own.

The kids love helping...Avery said it was like prairie day when they had to make their own soap. She even asked if we could make our own shampoo...i am going to look into that but am not sure. So, Kim when are you going to make yourself a batch!!!???

did you get our phone call? Elijah was singing to you before we got to the answering machine and was a little shy when it was time.

Hey can I use the detergent with a HE frontloader?

the lady i got the initial recipe uses hers in a HE washer...and my sister has also used it. i think the main issue is sudsing. with this i get no bubbles. did that really answer that question?

yes...the suds are the problem with HE's...too many and it will break the machine. I will have to try it then! Thanks!

How about selling that stuff for lazy people like me!! hehehe I'd buy it. The child labor dept. might not like it though!
Cheers! (no pun intended!!)

Hey I've been wanting to try this for a while since I saw it on the Duggar show. How much do you use per load. And you said it doesn't suds, but it does get stuff clean right? Since everyone else said it yesterday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY? You should have told me!!! Have a great day! I'm off to gymnastics!

Happy Belated Bday! I didn't know :( Ugh, I went to the qult shop in town for the first time yesterday. Big mistake. I wanted everything! Anyway, I plan on trying this out when we're out of what I have. I wonder if I could add essential oils to it to give it a scent & some essential oil anti-germ "forcefield" properties.
