While on vacation we were brought to this fair, i think it was in Maryland, by my sister. She and her friend Kate were going with one purpose in mind. To have a portrait sitting with this artist from China. He comes once a year and does these amazing portraits all day long. Before we saw his work we were not sure what we were going to do, but soon after we had the chance to watch him draw for a little while we knew that we wanted one as well. Having it done was like freezing a moment in time. If you know my kids well you can see them, really see them in the portrait.... i love that it captures Avery's toothlessness, and Mitchie's wariness, and serious face. Thank you Kate and Colleen. You can see how colleen's turned out over at her blog, here.
And of course, what is the fair without rides!!! Avery had the chance to go on a few big kid rides with Julia. This is the first time. She was so excited. I think she would have ridden all day long. And this parked tractor was just Mitchie's speed. He does not like rides...in fact he went on the tea cups with Ave and Julia and cried the whole time. He did not want them to spin it. Sweet baby. He tries to be such a big boy but in so many ways he is still my baby.
