This is me relaxing on the couch last night with an almost finished quilt...should have been a long time ago, but we all know already that i procrastinate. I was all cozied up so that i could use my new favorite sewing notion. I found this on spring break at a quilt shop up north. Meet my new best friend, Thread Heaven.
I already loved hand binding my quilts but now i love it even more. Thread Heaven keeps your thread from tangling and knotting up when you are sewing. It is amazing and makes such a difference. Your thread also moves a lot more smoothly through the fabric. If you can find it at a local shop i highly, highly recommend it.
Natalia at Piece and Quilt was asking what everyone's favorite, must have, notion was today....and this is mine for sure.
***For me, sitting with a quilt in my lap and taking the time to do some hand sewing is a peaceful thing. Not all may agree but i love it...it is soothing. What is your peaceful moment, your real life moments? Go over to Deb's at Works in Progress and share what peaceful moment is for you.**

That quilt looks so cozy and warm !
I should get some of that stuff. I used to use beeswax, but haven't in a while and it drives me crazy to have a nice long thread in the needle and have it start tangling !
Can't wait to see ALL of THAT quilt !
Is it something you run your thread through to make it smoother?
The quilt looks great, I love the Wonderland fabrics. I've been trying to source them all so I can make a quilt, I just have to get the butterflies now.
I love Thread Heaven too, it's great for embroidery/stitchery, no more tangles and it pulls through the fabric so smoothly. It's probably one of my favourite notions.
Looking forward to seeing more photos of the Wonderland quilt.
I've never seen the thread heaven, but i love love love your wonderland fabric. Cosy!
I love the fabrics in that quilt! Beautiful!
pretty quilt! i've never heard of thread heaven and will keep an eye out for it from now on. thanks for the tip!!
Are you making that quilt for me? Seriously it's as if you consulted me before picking out my favorite fabrics! As for the gadget- what was that? Too busy looking at your amazing handiwork.
beautiful and thanks for the tip, I'll have to see if I can hunt it down. :)
Wow, I am ALL ABOUT making the hand binding easier! I'll have to look for one of those! :)
Love your quilt Leslie. Can't wait to see it finished! Lovely choice for your binding. That chai dot is my fav!!
I started using beeswax not too long ago and it makes a huge difference too! I'll have to check this out as well.
Love that wonderland fabric!
What kind of thread do you use for sewing the bindings on? I have been using surfer's wax which helps a little, but will look for the Thread Heaven. It seems like cotton thread tangles so much.
Cool! I've seen things like that but never heard how well they really work. I love hand binding, too. But not the tangles I often get! I'll have to see if my local shop has it and give it a try. Thanks!
You do look peaceful and cozy! Can't wait to see your quilt all finished.
Mmmhm, Moda Wonderland, I love that line. I have 3 charmpacks and some yardage at home, but as always, I don't dare to cut into it cause then it's gone if I come up with an even better idea for how to use it!
I love hand-binding, as well, it's quiet, peaceful and I can get acquainted with the quilt :) The machine part usually involves some fighting with tension and seam allowances...
Cheers,
Christine
How funny!...I have these same fabrics & I'm in Tokyo. Those 2 types of floral & that brown dotty one.
