My helpers were very willing and very pleased to get to cook for school. They helped add in all the not hot ingredients...they left the hot stuff up to me.
After a short stay in the freezer these blocks of suet were put out to the absolute pleasure and torture of the squirrel's. They have been pulling all kinds of stunts to get their little rodent paws into the peanut butter suet...like jumping off fences and dangling upside down from branches by their little squirrelly feet!!!
Suet
2c. Crunchy Peanut Butter
2c. Lard, not shortening
4c. Rolled Oats, not quick oats
4c. Cornmeal
2/3c. Sugar
1c. Raisins
1c. Bird Seed Mix
1. Melt the lard and PB together in a pot over low heat
2. Stir in the rest of the ingredients
3. Scoop mixture into small plastic zippered bags
4. Place the bags in the freezer so that the suet will harden
Once hardened
5. Remove the suet from bag and place in mesh bag or suet basket
6. Hang on a tree outdoors
7. Wait, watch and enjoy
