I work way better under pressure. One of the little girls at Mitchell's school was having a birthday this week and i wanted to make her a little something that she could remember us by when she moves back to India. At midnight the night before i got all the fabrics cut and ready for this crayon roll-up and sewed it up quick in the morning. It came together really well, and the pattern was easy to follow. I had plenty of scraps in the scrap bin to choose from. I was thinking about making these for some of the little people i know for handmade/homemade Christmas.

Is that a gentle reminder for Christmas? That turned out cute. Is the gingham what I gave you?
NUH UH!!! I TOTALLY made one of those yesterday!!! I made 1 for Joshua & he loves it, so it's crayon rolls & PJ pants all around this year for Christmas!! Hopefully none of the future recipients see this comment on your blog tho, that's why I haven't blogged about my cute crayon roll, which is nowhere near as cute as your cute crayon roll!
mom, that was just some gingham ribbon i had(pink)...and Kim, YOU ARE KIDDING ME!!! How funny! I would love to see the ones you have made maybe you can e-mail me.
Wow those are so cool Les!! I love it! You are sooooo creative!
I checked out the pattern & do mine differently since I only used 1 fabric. I just used a big square (rectangle?), hemmed 3 sides 1/4", and folded it in 3rd's so that the top 1/3 covered the back of the fabric & the bottom 1/3 made the pocket. Then, I sewed around the sides & sewed lines 1" apart to make the pockets. Put the ribbon on the side, of course. I'm still in the prototype stages, hence the non-fancy design. I'm sure I'll work up to different fabrics and maybe even ric rac someday. I'll email you a picture so you can laugh at how uncute mine it compared to yours.
Oh how fun...are they good for carrying your pens in the office? :)
Lez, they are really cute! I do think it is a good idea. Let me know what size fabric you want and I can get it out to you ASAP.
Oh and are you going to make your own crayons too? ;O)
Oh and Kim, I have a friend who is doing the jammie pants for Christmas too!
We are doing a mostly handmade/homemade Christmas as well. Right now I am dealing with a very obnoxious apron pattern. When I get it done I will post.
my own crayons? yeah right! doing the handmade/homemade is nice but it is throwing me for a loop
So cute! I like Mary's idea of making one for the office or maybe just your purse.
A fancy pocket protector for those in need of one perhaps?!
Actually ladies...I saw one that was quite similar and it held, well, um ladies items....
isn't that a clever idea!!!
